Nearly 6 million Netflix subs streamed content in Q4

I think that we need to keep our eye on the demand of content over the internet as more complex hardware shrinks we will definitely see these types of services offered by providers.

Netflix reported Jan. 27 that 48% of its 12.3 million DVD-by-mail subscribers, or about 5.9 million, watched at least 15 minutes of continuously streamed video in Q4. That's a sharp rise from a year ago, when 28% of subscribers watched video from the then-nascent service.

Nokia Points Out Promising Alternative to Apps

Would you rather spend $60,000 adding an app to the 100,000 plus in the Apple App Store or would you rather spend a more modest sum creating a branded "augmented reality world" on Nokia Point & Find?

That is the question posed by Philipp Schloter, general manager of Nokia Point & Find and former CEO of pattern recognition start-up Pixto, which was acquired by Nokia in 2007. Unsurprisingly, he would advise you to choose the latter. Although Point & Find is still in beta, Nokia says it is working with about a dozen companies to develop commercial augmented reality worlds and is running an extensive pilot in the English town of Colchester together with outdoor advertising specialist JCDecaux.

T-Mobile confirms doubleTwist as Android sync software
T-Mobile USA has tapped doubleTwist as the authorized sync application for Android-powered phones to link media files from either a Mac or Windows PC and convert them into the most compatible formats, the carrier said. T-Mobile has worked closely with developers in marketing the wide catalog of apps in its online store, usually putting the most push behind the ones that will best promote its handsets. Electronista (1/25) ,

Apple shines in Q1 on iPhone, Mac sales

Apple shines in Q1 on iPhone, Mac sales

Apple's fiscal first-quarter results wowed analysts as the company reported a 32% gain in revenue and 50% in profit from a year earlier as iPhone shipments more than doubled and Mac computer sales increased 33%. Executives cited gains in Europe and emerging markets as key factors in selling 8.7 million iPhones during the quarter. "What this demonstrates is the strength of Apple's brand in good and bad times," said Bill Kreher, an analyst with Edward Jones. Sales of iPods declined 8% while iPod Touch shipments jumped 55%. The company said little about tomorrow's expected debut of its tablet.  ClipSyndicate/Bloomberg(1/25) , PC World/IDG News Service (1/25) , The Wall Street Journal (1/25) , The Wall Street Journal/Digits blog (1/25) , Computerworld (1/25

Why you should socialize your e-mail marketing

Why you should socialize your e-mail marketing
Marketing by e-mail only works when your audience actually wants to read the mail you send out -- and that's where social media comes in, writes Jason Falls. Instead of simply bulk-buying e-mail lists, Falls suggests, make it easier for your readers to share your content, and let new subscribers come to you. "Whether it's the 'Forward To A Friend' button or social-media sharing on sites like Twitter and Facebook, your readers will grow your list for you so long as you provide them both reason and motivation to do so," Falls writes. Social Media Explorer (1/25)

7 ways Foursquare can boost your business

7 ways Foursquare can boost your business
Foursquare, the location-based social network that lets users "check in" to stores and businesses they visit, is potentially a powerful marketing tool, writes Drew McLellan. Businesses should use the site to create innovative loyalty programs, McLellan argues, giving freebies to their most frequent visitors and a warm welcome to new arrivals.MarketingProfs/Daily Fix (free registration) (1/25

Can your brain cope with Facebook?

Can your brain cope with Facebook?
Researchers say that our brain structure means we can juggle only about 150 meaningful relationships at any one time, posing a problem for people with thousands of Facebook friends. But don't worry, writes Jacob Morgan -- while there's a cap on the number of close, deep relationships that we can form, there's still value in having lots (and lots and lots) of weaker connections. "What social networks have allowed us to do is to build massive networks of weak ties," Morgan writes. "Build weak ties where you can, because they are extremely valuable." Social Media Today (1/25)

I am testing Posterous and how it actually posts to Facebook and Twitter. Nevermind this post, but feel free to comment something stupid here. It's your one chance!

Posterous allows you to create an address for blogging.  Usually with blogging you would surf to the site and log in ultimately creating a blog entry.  The problem is that the blog is then one of many different websites that is used by your network.  The information might not truly hit the audience you are looking to reach at 100% efficiency.  Posterous allows you to link your postings to all social networking sites.   Not just one but all of them.  All you have to do is email your updates, blogs, pictures and videos and the rest is taken care for you.  I am also testing collaborative blogging and linking to a direct website.  More than likely Ijohannes.com will get a major upgrade with this cool website.  <end test>
